Gut-Healing Banana Iced Coffee
Here's something to throw you in to the working week with a healthy dose of gut-healing good bacteria, without skimping on that all important Monday morning caffeine hit! A refined sugar free, refreshing start to steamy summer mornings. Kefir is a nutrient-rich, highly-potent source of healthy bacteria, and is incredibly beneficial for digestion and gut health. Although similar in taste and texture to yoghurt, it's a much more powerful probiotic and has antibacterial properties to boot.
Even though kefir is made from milk, it's generally well tolerated by those who are lactose intolerant. Nevertheless, if you're avoiding dairy, you can substitute the kefir for coconut milk kefir - look for it at your local farmer's market, or make it yourself.
Makes 1 large or two small serves.
- 1 ripe, frozen banana
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1/4 cup kefir
- 2 shots espresso, chilled
- 2 ice cubes
Place everything in a blender, blitz and serve! :-)
